In 2011, Sylvania set aside a 5.5-acre tract of land south of Monroe Street (SOMO) for new development. A market analysis of potential land use provided by Boulevard Strategies suggested an eclectic mix of office space, fine and casual dining, entertainment, retail stores, and service businesses. The plan also includes plenty of green space and parking with water’s edge views and walkways. The developed site will complement and complete the downtown business district with easy pedestrian traffic between the areas. In tandem with this development was Phase I of the River Trail project, which is now complete, and Phase II to begin in 2017.
